50 charged in prostitution ring

Line Break

It’s been a while since I took basic math, but the numbers below are confusing. If there were "hundreds of thousands of johns," were they all listed on a 367 page ledger? That would mean an average of about 272 names per page. Must be more to it.

Is the Maricopa County Attorney going to charge thousands (let alone hundreds of thousands) of johns? Given that there is a one year statute of limitations on misdemeanors in AZ, most johns who have not participated in the past year should be okay in regards to prosecution. However, this wouldn’t shield them from the public embarrassment that is coming down the line.

50 charged in prostitution ring

County Attorney Andrew Thomas said some of them were big-name clients, according to escorts interviewed by authorities. Neither Thomas nor police were prepared to release the names Tuesday, but Thomas said they will face charges.

Investigators have yet to scour a 367-page ledger filled with client information that was confiscated during the raid. Schemers estimated there are “hundreds of thousands of johns” who have used the service since it began six to seven years ago.

Also seized in the raids were three high-dollar homes, a cache of guns and eight vehicles, including a Ferrari.
